Carjacking suspect arrested after failing to stop and crashing into U-Haul trailers

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A Holyoke detective was driving home Thursday when he spotted a vehicle that had been involved in a carjacking several hours earlier.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it failed to stop and crashed into several U-Haul trailers parked at the corner of Essex and Nick Cosmos streets.

The operator was apprehended on Newton Street and identified as 18-year-old Yandel Jimenez.

He was charged with the following:

Couldn’t stop because of the police

Receiving a stolen vessel

Disturbance of public order

Resist arrest

Firearms without PID

Careless operation of the ship

Unlicensed operation of a motor ship

Leave the scene of property damage
