The Perth family behind the sale of Thermomix in Australia will sell the business to global manufacturer Vorwerk

The Perth woman who brought the iconic Thermomix kitchen appliance to Australia more than two decades ago has stunned fans of the must-have gadget by announcing she is selling the business.

Grace Mazur discovered the Thermomix on a trip to Poland in 2001 and brought one home to Australia in hopes of creating a local sales network for a machine that could slice, dice, cook, freeze and everything in between.

Soon after, Mix Australia emerged as a franchise of the German company Thermomix.

Started in Ms. Mazur’s living room, it quickly grew with the help of a team of consultants who conducted in-home demonstrations.

Just over a decade later, Ms Mazur moved her operations to swanky new headquarters in Balcatta and then increased sales to nearly $141.5 million a year as the COVID-19 pandemic reignited her love of cooking at home in 2021.

Over the past 23 years, more than 700,000 units costing over $2,500 have been sold in Australia and New Zealand.

But on Thursday Ms Mazur said the business would be sold to parent company Vorwerk for an undisclosed sum.

“Although we had long-term plans for the business and had no intention of selling it, Vorwerk has decided to invest in the Asia-Pacific region as part of its future growth plan and is acquiring the business,” she said.
