RFK Jr. says Trump’s move is something no other president has done before

Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised former President Trump plans to finance his transition himself, claiming that this has never been done before.

“Typically the transition team is not created until November 6th because GAO, the General Accounting Office, pays all the costs for the transition team. Trump said: “I’m not going to do it this time. I’m going to do it their way, I’m going to start my own transition team three months early.” And he brought in private donors to fund it,” Kennedy said during a Trump-Vance campaign event over the weekend.

The comments came after Trump appeared on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast, where he discussed some of the mistakes he made during his first run for president in 2016, including appointing people to positions he would later regret on his team.

This time, Trump began the process of privately financing his transition early, hoping to learn from his experience and immediately begin developing a plan if he secures an election victory.

Trump faced a wave of criticism last week for comments made by some former officials in his administration. Trump’s former chief of staff John Kelly told the New York Times that his former boss fits the definition of a fascist and occasionally praised German dictator Adolf Hitler.

Trump denied praise for Hitler and responded to Kelly by calling his former chief of staff a “low man” in response to the interview.

In August, Trump announced that Kennedy, who abandoned his independent bid for the presidency this year and endorsed the former president, would be added to his transition team along with former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who crossed party lines to support Trump in 2024.

Kennedy argued that having such a broad group of supporters helping with the transition would be an advantage if Trump wins the election.

“There are people of all different ideologies and people that we will have to face on this transition team and fight for our vision,” Kennedy said. “But I can tell you one unique thing: There are no corporate lobbyists on this transition team. And usually these are 100% corporate lobbyists. different from any government we have ever seen.”
