Githurai Locals Admire Detective Jane Mugoh as She Turns Fugitive After Dramatic Daylight Chase

The capture meant taking a suspect off the streets and saving an old man’s land from auction.

Detective Jane Mugoh told TUKO.co.ke It was stated that the suspect, who escaped from the authorities for two years, was accused of defrauding multiple Kenyans.

He acted like one safaricom Agent who promises to install network boosters on their property in exchange for a significant amount of money.

“The suspect and his accomplices defrauded victims of millions and went into hiding immediately after collecting the money,” he said.

When two of the suspects were captured, the suspect’s father put up his land as guarantor, hoping to get his son to appear in court.

But the fugitive disappeared and bypassed court hearings, endangering his father’s land.

For two years, authorities considered auctioning off the old man’s possessions, even briefly detaining him on suspicion that he was harboring his son.

This development came about when Mugoh received a tip that the fugitive was in Githurai and went there to verify.

While chasing the suspect, he immediately spotted him, abandoning his unlocked vehicle with valuables inside.

Mugoh says he was so caught up in the moment that he didn’t have time to lock the car and secure his belongings.

Inside were two phones worth KSh 300,000, a radio call and his bag containing all his identification documents.

Emotionally, Githurai residents patronized his car, leaving Mugoh deeply moved by the support.

“This is a place often associated with crime, but these residents protected my belongings,” Mugoh said.

Their pursuit resulted in the suspect’s capture, and while the suspect awaited trial, the old man’s goods were saved from being auctioned.
