Dozens injured in ramming attack near Tel Aviv

At least 24 people were injured Sunday when a truck crashed into a bus stop in Ramat Hasharon, central Israel.

Police said the suspect was “shot and subdued” at the scene, but did not say whether the incident was considered an assault.

The driver also crashed into a bus that had stopped to let passengers off, police said in a statement.

Magen David Adom emergency services said at least 16 people were taken to nearby hospitals.

Israel has faced sporadic attacks since the war with the Gaza Strip began in October 2023, following a Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7 that killed about 1,200 people.

The ceremonies were planned for Sunday to mark the anniversary of the attack on Oct. 7 on the Hebrew calendar.

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir arrived at the scene of the incident on Sunday.

Footage posted on social media showed him hugging a man who had called for the suspect’s family to be “deported”.
