HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A sea of pink filled the streets Sunday as thousands of participants came together for the annual Susan G. Komen More Than a Pink Walk.

The event raised funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

The turnout was a success, demonstrating the community’s commitment to this vital cause.

“It’s a great day, we’re looking forward to it,” she shared.

This year, Harris was joined by her children, Julianne and Joseph, highlighting the family support that often characterizes the event.

The 2024 march featured a variety of groups, including the UConn dance team, which carried pink pom-poms in support of breast cancer awareness.

“Breast cancer is very close to our hearts,” said Ashley Lynch of the team. “We just had a Coaches Against Cancer event to support this.”

Performances from local dance groups, including Griffith Academy, added to the vibrant atmosphere.

Delaney Rafferty from Griffith Celtic Dance Company noted the welcoming nature of the event, highlighting the joy of being part of such a meaningful cause.

The march is more than just a show of solidarity; its goal is to take a comprehensive approach to combating breast cancer.

Participants waved colorful scarves symbolizing exploration, caring, community and action, promoting a spirit of unity.

Christina and Kellyanne Taylor, members of “Team Trisha,” walked in honor of their mother, Trisha.

“This is exactly what she loved to do,” Christina said.

The team raised over $40,000 to further the fight against breast cancer, reflecting their commitment to continuing their mother’s legacy.

Kellyanne praised their mother’s spirit, noting how she battled breast cancer for 16 years by always putting others first.

The event’s goal is to raise $312,000, and organizers are optimistic about reaching their goal.
