An Onslow County woman won the $103,096 jackpot after playing on a $0.50 ticket.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – An East Carolina woman is $103,096 richer after playing a $0.50 ticket Thursday.

According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Dawn Dildy of Jacksonville won the prize after playing her favorite game, Bonus Wheel.

“I play this game every day if I can,” Dildy said. “I love it.”

This is an instant digital game with a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time. Dildy won the top tier Epic Jackpot, which has a one in 62 million chance of winning.

“I always thought you’d probably have to play a $10 or $20 ticket to hit the jackpot,” Dildy said.

Dildy said she still can’t believe her luck.

“I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I won,” Dildy said. “It’s really amazing.”

After calling to tell her daughters the good news, Dildy said they didn’t believe her at first.

“They told me I was lying,” Dildy laughed. “I had to send a screenshot. They were very happy for me.”

She claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters and took home $73,714 after mandatory federal and state taxes were withheld.

Dildy said she plans to use the prize to pay bills.
