In Karlovy Vary, a man died after being hit by a train.

A pedestrian was struck by a train Sunday afternoon in Carlsbad, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Witnesses told investigators the victim appeared to intentionally walk in front of a train on Carlsbad Village Drive near State Street around 4:20 p.m., sheriff’s Lt. Noah Zarnow said.

No information about the person’s age or gender was immediately available.

There have been 23 fatal train accidents in San Diego County this year, up from 14 in 2023, according to the county medical examiner’s office.
