Rep. Ritchie Torres warns of ‘increasing anti-Semitism’ by Twitch streamer Hassan Piker

Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres is sounding the alarm about an “explosion of Jew hatred” on online platform Twitch following the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack, singling out the popular political commentator Hasan Pickeraccording to a copy of the letter obtained exclusively by The Post.

“Since October 7, there has been an explosion of hatred against Jews on social media,” Torres wrote. “Hassan Piker became the poster child for the outbreak of anti-Semitism in America after October 7.”

Torres, 36, disowned Clancy for hosting Piker as well as other streamers who spoke out against Jewish people. praised late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwarand vowed to “take back our country from these Jewish supremacists.”

The congressman quoted Piker as hatefully calling the Jew a “fucking bloodthirsty and cruel pig dog,” arguing that “it doesn’t matter whether the rape happened on October 7th” and defending Lebanon-based Iranian terrorist proxy Hezbollah.

“Platforming any of these terrorist organizations, as Peiker did, is out of bounds,” Torres said, adding that “incitement of violence by a streamer merits the scrutiny of federal law enforcement.”

“Pyker even went so far as to… advise his followers to ‘kill’ and ‘kill’ people ‘in the streets’ and ‘let the streets soak in their red capitalist blood,’” the lawmaker noted.

“I wonder if Mr. Piker has ever seen an anti-American or anti-Semitic terrorist attack that he didn’t like?” Torres asked Clancy in the letter, which also referenced a post in which the streamer compared himself to Soviet revolutionary Vladimir Lenin. “He seems to live in a morally inverted universe where the real terrorists of 9/11 and 9/7 were not criminals but victims.”

“I have a simple question for Mr. Picker and his associates at Twitch,” the congressman continued. “What exactly do you find funny? Does anti-Semitism amuse you? Are you amused by the kidnapping of 30 children, including babies and toddlers? Are you amused by the kidnapping of elderly Holocaust and Farhud survivors?

Torres accused Clancy of being a “fan” of Piker, whom the CEO praised for being “open and direct” and for being “comfortable saying what he thinks.”

“If Twitch as a corporation has any semblance of social responsibility—and that’s a dubious proposition given the company you keep—then it’s time for Twitch to stop promoting those who promote anti-Semitism,” the congressman added.

Torres suggested that Congress should investigate if Twitch allows anti-Semitism to spread.
