The Pacers scored 12 points to take an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter, but the Magic turned it on down the stretch for a 119-115 win at the Kia Center in Orlando on Monday.

The Pacers suffered their third straight loss and fell to 1–3. The Magic improved to 3-1.

Paolo Banchero scored 37 points in the first half and finished the game with 50 points to lead the Magic. Guard Jalen Suggs added 25 points, center Moritz Wagner added 14 points off the bench and Wendell Carter Jr. scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Pascal Siakam led the Pacers with 26 points. Tyrese Haliburton nearly had a triple-double with 19 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Obi Toppin scored 14 points off the bench. Myles Turner and Andrew Nembhard each scored 13 points and Aaron Nesmith scored 10 points.

The Pacers led by eight points in the fourth and led 105-97 with eight minutes left in the fourth, but were outscored 22-10 the rest of the game and the Magic turned it around to win.

In Game 4, the Pacers held the Magic to 6-of-15 shooting but made just 6-of-22 field goals themselves. Anthony Black hit two huge 3-pointers in the final six minutes, and Paolo Banchero scored nine points in the quarter to give him 50 points for the game.

This was probably the Pacers’ best all-around performance to date, and they looked closer to last year’s form in this game than any other, giving them reason to be hopeful for the future, but it’s also a game that will be painful given that this is their third game in a row. loss.

The fourth quarter was dismal, with the Pacers going 2-for-9 and the Magic 1-for-7, but the Pacers brought a lot more depth on defense in the second half, and that’s what got them here. The Magic scored 7 of 29 points in the second half.

Overall, this may have been the Pacers’ best quarter of the season.

They outscored the Magic 39–22, making 12 of 21 field goals, 3 of 7 threes and 12 of 18 free throws, scoring 1.50 points per possession. Meanwhile, they held the Magic to 6 of 22 shooting, including 1 of 12 from 3-point range and 9 of 13 free throws for 0.74 points per possession. After scoring 37 points in the first half, Banchero scored just four in the third, missing all six of his field goals and scoring all of his points at the line.

Tyrese Haliburton is far from perfect and missed a few shots, but he had 16 points, 10 assists and one rebound off a triple-double with nine rebounds.

The Pacers led 20-3 at one point in the period and have now outscored Orlando 30-15. They are 11 of 17 points while the Magic are 6 of 17.

The Pacers are 6 of 9 points this quarter, while the Magic are 3 of 10. Orlando’s scoring slump in the first half has subsided, and the Pacers are starting to look good early in the game. Pascal Siakam has a couple of big buckets, including a three-point play.

The Magic start out a little slow, like they’re running out of ammo after the first half. They are 2 of 7 from the floor so far. Jalen Suggs has a couple buckets, but that’s about it. Meanwhile, the Pacers are 4 of 7 and Myles Turner just hit a 3-pointer to put them under double digits. Additionally, Tyrese Haliburton had a strong And-1 showing that is worth checking out. He seems to be playing a lot more explosively tonight. He had 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting, seven rebounds and four assists.

Paolo Banchero was completely out of control at this point: 37 points in the half on 13 of 17 shooting, including 3 of 6 from three-point range and 8 of 9 from the line. He also had seven rebounds and six assists. Jalen Suggs has 15 points, and with those two carrying the scoring load, the Magic are shooting 27 of 46 from the field, 9 of 20 from 3, 8 of 9 from the line for 1.39 points per possession. The Pacers aren’t doing too badly offensively, shooting 23-for-45, 8-for-15, 5-for-8 for 1.17 points per possession, but their inability to stop Banchero is killing them. They also lose 23-15 on the boards, in part because the Magic don’t miss many shots.

Obi Toppin had 10 points at halftime. Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner each have nine.

The Pacers maintain contact, but the Magic hit some big shots from the outside and the Pacers still have no answer to Jalen Suggs or Paolo Banchero. Banchero had 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting and hit a three-pointer before the timeout. Suggs was 5 of 5 from 3-point range and had 15 points. The Magic are shooting 56.8% from the field and scoring 1.34 points per possession.

The Magic outscored the Pacers 6–2 early in the second quarter. The Magic are 3-for-11 from the field at this point and the Pacers are 1-for-7, so these are more like rock fights that Orlando tends to win. Rick Carlisle called time out to set things right.

The Pacers offense has come alive in many ways. They look like themselves against an Orlando team that has one of the best defenses in the NBA.

In the first quarter, the Pacers are 14 of 23 from the field, 5 of 10 from 3 and 3 of 3 from the line for a stratospheric efficiency rate of 1.54 points per possession. The Magic were almost as good: 13 of 21, 4 of 10, 5 of 5, 1.51 points per possession, but that’s a sign that the Pacers are forcing the Magic to keep up with them.

Obi Toppin scored 10 points after the quarter. Paolo Banchero had 10 and Jalen Suggs 12.

The Pacers can’t stop either Paolo Banchero or Jalen Suggs, as Banchero has 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and Suggs 12 on 4-of-5 shooting, making all four of his 3-point attempts. As a team, the Magic are 10-of-16, 4-of-9 from 3 and averaging 1.56 points per possession.

However, the Pacers are now responding as well. Tyrese Haliburton missed his first four shots but only made a pair of straight threes. They were 10 of 18 from the floor.

Additionally, Isaiah Jackson had a strong start, including this thunderous dunk.

The Pacers had a bit of a slow start offensively, trailing 15-8, but they rallied and had a chance to cut the deficit to one point after a timeout when Myles Turner got a basket and fouled out on a free throw. still to come. Both teams have 6 out of 9 points. Paolo Banchero already has nine points for the Magic on 4 of 5 shooting.

Business as usual for both teams.

Pacers rookie Johnny Furphy is out with a sore throat. He only played five minutes during the mop-up against the Knicks this season, but it’s clear he’s not enjoying the move. Center James Wiseman is still out long-term with a torn Achilles tendon.

For the Magic, former Pacers center Goga Bitadze was out with a left foot sprain and forward Jonathan Isaac was sidelined with a left foot contusion. Franz Wagner and Tristan da Silva were listed as questionable due to illness, but both are available.

Dustin Dopirak: Magic 107-98

With the Pacers’ offense out of sync, the last thing they need is to face a great defensive team on the road, but that’s exactly what they’re getting. The Magic finished third in the NBA in defensive rating last season and are currently sixth with wins over Miami and Brooklyn. The Pacers will get back on track at some point, and they’re right not to panic, but Orlando isn’t the best place to get healthy these days.
