Community Engagement Session Discusses New RVC Downtown West Campus

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rock Valley College is holding a community engagement session on plans for a new campus slated for completion in 2026.

The event occurred at 5:30 p.m. on October 29 at the Rockford Police Department’s 1st Precinct.

Community members were able to speak with project managers, view building designs, learn more about programs offered and more.

“We’re celebrating 60 years of simple education and community success, and tonight one of the ways we’re celebrating our 60th anniversary is to announce that we’re going to build a campus in downtown Rockford West,” says Dr. Howard Spearman, president of RVC.

new campus will be located in Chestnut and Winnebago/Rockton and will offer programs including automotive education, early childhood education, truck driver training, social services, criminal justice, adult education, and refugee and immigration services. There will also be space for public interaction.

The schedule includes demolition of the three buildings by January 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony in March 2025, and expected completion in August 2026.
