Rangers v Aberdeen team news confirmed

The defense has seen Robin Propper on the hook in each of the last two games and it is no surprise that the experienced Dutchman was benched for such a major mentality test.

John Souttar and Propper played superbly against Malmo. However, there has been no chemistry in recent weeks, with the former playing a string of poor performances and Leon Balogun proving he is still the club’s best central midfielder.

James Tavernier made a difference when he came off the bench against St Mirren, as did Neraisho Kasanvirjo when he moved into the middle of defence, leaving Clement with the opportunity to make some crucial calls.

In a shocking call, Jefte was replaced by Kasanvirjo at left-back.

The midfield has improved with Nicholas Ruskin back to his best form along with Connor Barron and Tom Lawrence returning to the side to replace Mohamed Diomande.

Nedim Bajrami and Vaclav Cerny are in the starting XI until more options become available, while Cyriel Desers’ contribution against St Mirren will show he has something to prove. Losing Cerny so late to injury is a huge blow for Rangers.

Having gone six games without scoring, now is the right time for Desser to rediscover his scoring ability.

Ross McCausland returns to the team, but Cerny is absent.

Here’s Rangers’ starting line-up for tonight’s match against Aberdeen:

Rangers fans react to Clement giving Jephte a surprise

Clement would have loved to have had a week where he could choose his best squad, but the reality is that in his year in charge he has not yet been given that luxury.

Not that Rangers fans will sympathize with the big Belgian, given that he left Jefte and Diomande on the bench.

Stevie Clifford from the Four Lads Had a Dream podcast is clearly not happy and simply writes, “Sigh”:

All of these fans think the decision to ditch Jefte is strange and they are far from happy with Clement, with one fan asking, “Why did he give up Jefte,” and another asking, “How did he come to the conclusion that Jefte is the one?” should I refuse? “:

A defeat and the Rangers are practically out of the title race. Aberdeen may not be able to maintain their current pace for another 30 games, but Celtic will.

If Clement has to win all the Old Firm derbies for the rest of the season and expect Celtic to drop points in other games as well, the chances of him making it to Christmas are diminishing by the week.

Fans feel that with this lineup he is only making life more difficult for himself.
