Brazil partners with biometric identity verification provider in strategic move for Serpro

Brazil is committed to improving fraud prevention for businesses operating in Latin America.

South America’s largest economy is entering into a strategic partnership with a technology company from the Brazilian federal government. Serpro merges with REACT-OnID.

Biometric identity verification company REACT-OnID will provide Brazilian institutions with the ability to more securely verify identities and documents by integrating biometric verification with Serpro government databases.

“Countries like Brazil, with their large and fast-growing economies, face high vulnerability to fraud detection,” said Alan Archila, CEO of REACT-OnID.

“Our partnership with Serpro provides a powerful solution that will help Brazilian businesses protect themselves from fraudsters using fake IDs,” he continued.

The integration of REACT-OnID and Serpro will mean multi-modal ID verification and advanced ISO 30107-3 compliant technology that includes contactless fingerprint recognition and biometric facial recognition, as well as enhanced fraud detection using both live and passive detection capabilities to protect against identity theft and fraud.

John V. Puente, President OnID Inc.., commented: “By linking with Serpro, we enable Brazilian businesses to verify the identity of customers directly against official government records, regardless of whether the identifier originates from Brazil or from abroad.”

Serpro is the largest provider of IT services to the public sector in Brazil and supports government agencies such as the Federal Police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Department of Traffic and the Brazilian Federal Tax Service.

Serpro provided a facial recognition system check delegates at G20 meeting held in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year.
