Dayanand Shetty talks about going down into manholes and sewers while filming a crime scene: ‘It was like a military operation’

The famous TV show CID is back on screens with a new season and fans can’t wait. The original cast is Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava and A.S.P. Pradyuman will reprise his roles. In a recent conversation, Dayanand Shetty, who plays the role of Chief Inspector Daya, shared his experience of filming the previous episodes and how it differs from traditional television serials.

Talking about culture on CID sets, Dayanand Shetty shared that everyone treated each other with respect and there was no separate behavior towards small or large actors. While actors usually use separate dressing rooms on sets, the CID actors shared one dressing room. Daya said that even if they had separate spaces, they would open up to make bigger rooms and spend time together.

“There was no distinction – no one was considered a big or small actor, and people were not treated differently if they planned to leave the show. We were all human and treated each other with respect. It was like a military structure: everyone did their job and no one felt superior or inferior,” added Shetty.

He went on to talk about the difficult situations that arose during the filming of this television series. They had to go down into manholes, sewers and dirty water, as required by the scene. The actor said: “We never told the director that we couldn’t jump in there because it was dirty. You don’t say no. The shooting was carried out at a military level.”

Talking about what worked for CID, Dayanand Shetty said, “The good thing about CID was that every day was different. The location and partners were constantly changing. Sometimes we filmed with a big star, sometimes with other actors. We had about 15-17 locations in each episode. So we’re not bored.”

Talking about the upcoming season of CID, Pinkvilla exclusively revealed that the show will air in December. The first promo, released on October 26, has created curiosity and tension among the viewers as it shows a dramatic confrontation between two iconic characters, Abhijeet (Aditya Shrivastava) and Daya (Dayanand Shetty). This puts ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam) in a difficult position.
