Jeevan Pramaan Patra | Life Certificate Submission Window Open: How Retirees Can Complete the Process

The government requires all central government pensioners to provide an annual life certificate to continue receiving pension benefits. For pensioners under 80 years of age, the application window opened on November 1 and will close on November 30.

If life certificate is not submitted before the end of this period, pension payments will be suspended starting in December.

This annual review helps the government ensure that pensions are only paid to eligible individuals.

Who needs to provide an annual life certificate?

Approximately 69.76 lakh central government pensioners are required to submit a life certificate every year to continue receiving pension benefits.

The application window opened earlier, on October 1, for retirees aged 80 and over, giving them additional time to complete the process.

All other pensioners must meet the deadline of November 30 to avoid interruptions in payments.

How to provide a life certificate?

Retirees have several options for filing a life certificate, making this requirement easier to complete. Here are the main methods:

Personal message: Pensioners can visit their pension bank, post office or other government designated centers to submit their life certificate in person.

Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan): To simplify the process, pensioners can use Digital service Jeevan Pramaan, available through the Jeevan Pramaan app or website. This service uses biometric verification, which allows you to send the certificate digitally.

Pensioners who choose the digital method can visit a bank, post office or other service center equipped with biometric devices, or complete the procedure at home if they have the necessary equipment.

Banking services at your doorstep: Many public sector banks are now offering home banking services to help senior citizens apply for life certificates from the comfort of their home.

Pensioners can call a bank representative who will collect biometric data and provide a certificate on their behalf.

This service may be useful for those who have mobility problems or health problems.

Submission through pension points: Some pension offices may also accept life certificates directly. Retirees should contact their specific office to confirm whether this option is available.
