‘Mumbai is expensive but it’s funny’: User X’s post sparks debate over £40 fee for plastic glasses; Reaction of netizens |

Have you ever been shocked by a bill that seemed to charge extra for the most ordinary things? A recent incident posted on social media has sparked a lively debate about the hidden costs in our daily lives, especially when it comes to enjoying a simple glass of mango juice.

Ravi Handa recently took to social networking site X (formerly Twitter) to express his disbelief at the exorbitant fees at a mall in Thane. Handa’s post talks about an experience reported by a user on the r/mumbai subreddit.

Handa wrote in his post: “Who the hell charges £40 for disposable plastic cups to drink mango juice in!”

“I knew Mumbai was expensive, but this is ridiculous,” he added.

Reaction from netizens

Handa’s post quickly gained popularity, causing a wave of responses among netizens.

One user humorously suggested, “Ye dekh K Mumbai me Restaurant open krne ka man kr gya.”

Others echoed Handa’s sentiments, highlighting the frustration faced by customers in India.

“Indian business is not responsible to anyone. They need any random reason to deceive customers. Most of them are unregulated and charge as they please!” noted by another user.

As the debate grew, so did interest in this peculiar pricing strategy. One user provocatively asked: “So if someone says they don’t want a glass, will they offer juice from the tap?”

As consumers, it is important for us to question unfounded accusations and stand up for our rights. Whether it is really necessary to charge Rs 40 for a disposable plastic cup is still a question that has many netizens questioning Handa’s post.
