Outstanding music composer and television producer. Quincy Jones passed away. He was 91 years old.

Jones died Sunday (Nov. 3) evening at his home in Bel Air, surrounded by family, according to Jones’ publicist. Hollywood Reporter.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of the passing of our father and brother Quincy Jones,” the family said in a statement. “And while this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life he lived and know there will never be another like him.”

Jones has been involved in several successful projects, including as a producer Steven Spielberg1985 film adaptation Color Purple and a remake in 2023; he helped obtain the rights to adapt classics and actors Oprah Winfrey. Jones has also won a whopping 28 Grammy Awards, making him the third-most of all time. His career took off after he met Ray Charles as a teenager, which eventually led to collaborations with Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Dizzy Gillespie and later Michael Jackson.

Jones suffered two brain aneurysms in 1974, which inspired his loved ones to hold a memorial service. “It didn’t look like I’d make it, so my friends planned a memorial… They had the concert anyway,” he wrote in his 2008 book. Jones also directed the recording of “We Are The World” in 1985, which raised millions of dollars for famine victims in Ethiopia. Jones is survived by seven children, including Parks and Recreation actress Rashida Jones.
