Tourist rescued after falling into train tunnel

CARROLL, Maryland. Maryland State Police Aviation Command rescued an injured hiker after he slipped and fell 20 feet into a railroad tunnel in Carroll County.

Around 3:00 p.m. on November 1, emergency services responded to the area of ​​Gaither Road and Railroad Avenue after receiving a report of an injured person.

Officials say the hiker was walking through a wooded area when he slipped and fell about 20 feet down an embankment.

Due to the man’s location, Maryland State Police Aviation Command was asked to conduct a medical evacuation.

The tourist was taken to a shock trauma center for treatment of his injuries.
