The second UEFA Women’s Nations League starts in February 2025.

How the Women’s League of Nations works

The teams are divided into three leagues based on their rankings at the 2024 European Women’s Qualifying League stage. There are 16 teams in League A, 16 teams in League B and 21 teams in League C, including two countries participating in the senior women’s competition for the first time: Gibraltar and Liechtenstein. The draw for the league stages will take place at 13:00 CET on Thursday 7 November.

Each team starting position in the league determined based on 2024 European Women’s Qualifying League stage results.

How do groups work?

All matches in the league stage are played according to the league system: each team plays one home match and one away match against every other team in its group. Three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss.

Who’s playing in the UEFA Women’s Nations League final?

The four League A group winners advance to the playoff finals.

How are the UEFA Women’s Nations League finals going?

Unlike the first edition, all matches will be played in two matches. There are two semi-finals left, the third place game and the final. A draw will determine the draw and the home team in each of the first matches.

The winners of the final are declared the winners of the UEFA Nations League.

Who gets promoted, relegated or makes the playoffs?

League A

The top two teams in each group remain in League A for European qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The four third-placed teams will play two matches against the second-placed teams in each group of League B. The winner of each match plays in League A for the European qualifying stage; the losing teams will play in League B.

Teams finishing fourth are relegated to League B.

League B

The four group winners are promoted to League A.

The four second-placed teams play two matches against the third-placed teams in League A. The winner of each match plays in League A; the losing teams will play in League B.

The top two third-placed teams will play two matches against the top two second-placed teams in League C. The winners play in League B for the European qualifying stage; the losing teams will play in League C.

The two lowest-ranked third-place teams and the four fourth-place teams are relegated to League C.

League C

The six group winners are promoted to League B.

The top two second-placed teams will play two matches against the top two third-placed teams in League B. The winners play in League B for the European qualifying stage; losing teams play in League C.

The remaining teams remain in League C.
