ConcernedApe warns of ‘wild coyotes’ after Stardew Valley 1.6 console update

There are wild coyotes in Stardew Valley 1.6, but it all actually started with a missing chicken bug.

ConcernedApe has sounded the alarm about a bug in the latest Stardew Valley console update. The long-awaited Stardew game update 1.6 finally released on consoles and mobile devices on November 4, 2024.

One of the standout features is the Meadowlands Farm, a new type of farm created especially for animal lovers. This farm comes with a pre-built chicken coop that contains two chickens and 15 pieces of hay instead of the usual parsnip seeds. It’s a dream for livestock-centric gameplay.

But there’s a catch. ConcernedApe, creator of Stardew Valley, recently posted X warningalerting players to an outage affecting Meadowlands Farm.

Your chickens are not safe in Stardew Valley 1.6.

“PSA,” he wrote. “If you open a new farm in the Meadowlands and open the door to the animals on the first day, your chickens will disappear. Leave the door closed for one day to keep them safe. We’ll fix it. Lor: On the first day there is a wild coyote on the farm.” So unless you want an empty coop, keep the door closed.

The players’ response was both hilarious and encouraging. One fan suggested: “You should keep him and make the coyote adoptable.” Another chimed in: “I know how this snowballs. I’ll log in next week and there will be a real coyote named Grabug delivering a golden dragon fruit that I can throw down the well at midnight as a magic wand.”

This bug was not present in the PC release of Stardew Valley 1.6, so we’ll have to see if ConcernedApe wants to bring this “coyote” to all platforms.

Almost ten years later, Stardew Valley continues to amaze its community. While you’re waiting Haunted Chocolatier To release, you can grow blue grass for your chickens on Meadowlands Farm.
