How Michigan voters can find their polling place

Tuesday, November 5, 2024 is Election Day. Polling stations open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

How to find your polling station

Election inspectors will be present at each polling place on Election Day to assist voters and administer the election.

On Election Day, it is important to find your local polling station in case it has moved to another location.

Visit Michigan Voter Information Center to find your polling station.

Before heading to the polls, voters should remember to check their registration status to ensure it is current.

Need to register to vote?

Voters must register to vote in person at their clerk’s office or satellite office and provide proof of residency within 14 days of the election.

If you register to vote in person, you will be asked to show photo identification. Don’t you have it? You can sign the affidavit and then register to vote.

Acceptable forms of photo identification include the following:

  • Driver’s license or state identification card issued by Michigan or another state.

  • A photo ID issued by the federal, state, county, or local government.

  • US passport

  • Military photo ID

  • Student ID with educational institution photo

  • Tribal Photo ID

  • Local or County Government Identification Card

  • License to carry a concealed pistol

Voters in line before 8:00 pm on Election Day have the right to register to vote in person at their local clerk’s office.

Do’s and Don’ts at your local polling station:

  • Do Bring a voter information guide or brochure with you when you vote, just be sure to pick it up when you leave.

  • Do Please use a translator if assistance is needed to vote in a language other than English.

  • Do take a selfie outside the voting place.

  • Not wear campaign clothing or accessories in or within 100 feet of a polling place (stickers, hats, badges, etc.).

  • Not Bring election or campaign fliers to or within 100 feet of a polling place.

  • Not take a photo in the voting area.

Trip to the elections

In some areas, nonpartisan organizations and companies are offering free rides to polling stations and early voting sites. More information can be found online at michiganvoting.org/rides.
