Arjun Kapoor says he shot Seegam again at ‘worst period’ of life: ‘Will people care about me?’

Arjun Kapoor said that he faced personal and emotional obstacles while filming Singham Again.

While Arjun Kapoor is being lauded for his role as Dangerous Lanka in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, the actor recently admitted that he was not in love with cinema when he made the film. Arjun said that he was at the worst stage of his life. Then the actor suffered a number of failures, and also experienced a breakup with Malaika Arora.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Arjun said, “When I signed this film, I was going through the worst phase of my life, personally, professionally, emotionally, mentally and physically… Rohit sir told me, ‘I need you in my eyes,’ because we will shoot with you at every opportunity.” I just took it as a stepping stone towards my personal development.”

He said: “I didn’t look around and search because when you make a film like this, you can’t do twenty things at once. It turned out to be quite a reflective time for me as I realized that less is more for me today. It’s easy now, but back then I didn’t expect such films to come my way. I also experienced a very internal rhythm, so it’s not that I didn’t do it because I didn’t want to work. I didn’t get better deals by any means. I wasn’t happy about it.”

He added: “I probably made the most interesting commercial film of my life, the biggest film of my life, although I wasn’t really in love with cinema, and it’s a real paradox if you look at him, and this is a child who grew up knowing only movies. I didn’t have that sparkle in my eyes.”

“Sometimes I wondered, ‘What’s the point of all this? Will everything really work out? Am I going to love movies again? Will people really care about me again? Will the public reject me? Is this the question? I went through all of this while I was filming the film. Not at the time of filming, but my schedule was scattered as I shot the film over the course of 50-plus days. I had never been with other actors to this extent, I was very isolated during filming. The luggage was there. I didn’t doubt my ability to pull off the role, I doubted that people would be interested in it,” said Arjun Kapoor.
