A 24-year-old man faces OWI charges after a car crashed into a building near Indiana Tech.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) — The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says a man was arrested on OWI charges after car crashed van into building near Indiana Tech.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers say 24-year-old Shivam Patel was driving in the area of ​​Maumee Avenue and Ohio Street when he lost control of his car and hit a van, causing it to crash into an unoccupied building.

Patel was transported to a local hospital where he was later cleared and ultimately taken into custody, according to FWPD.

Patel faces a preliminary charge of felony DUI with a prior conviction, as well as misdemeanor DUI causing endangerment.
