School closures and alternative bus routes due to flooded roads

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Many schools are closed or have changed bus routes Friday morning due to flooded roads.

Bulloch County

Bulloch County Schools will be open and will continue to operate on a regular schedule Friday morning, but an alternative busing plan is in effect. All dirt roads in Bullock County are now closed to bus traffic. The alternate bus route and bus stop plan used during Tropical Storm Debbie are now in effect for all unpaved roads. School leaders say expect possible bus delays. They also say that you can use the Edulog Parent Portal mobile app to track updates on your child’s bus.

Candler County

Candler County Schools says changes will be made to its school transportation plan on Friday, November 8th. If your home is located on a dirt road, the bus driver will contact you and arrange a convenient meeting point on a paved road. If you have not heard from your bus driver, please call 912-685-7302.

Oaktree Road is closed so parents must use the main entrance for drop off and pick up and from there they will guide you to the pond entrance/pick up.

Evans County

The Evans County charter school system is also adjusting bus routes. Click Here full list of bus route adjustments.

Tattnall County

For Tattnall County Schools, the district is asking all parents of students who are being transported to locations via unpaved roads to meet the bus at the paved entrance on Friday morning.

Students who cannot get to the bus stop should bring a note to their teacher when they return to school.

Toombs County

The Toombs County School District did not announce any changes to bus routes or departure times Friday morning. School officials said their transportation department and bus drivers have been monitoring the roads over the past 24 hours to ensure travel to school will be safe. If you have any questions, they urge you to call the Toombs County School System Transportation Department.

Vidalia

All Vidalia City schools will be closed on Friday, November 8th.
