Razor-sharp tiny EDC knife in your wallet

Razor-sharp tiny EDC knife in your wallet

The new ultra-small knife, made from M390 steel, promises to deliver powerful fingertip chops in a package the size of a house key. The compact knife also comes with two other surprises, including a handy bottle opener.

Crowdfunders seem to have an endless appetite for a wide range of knives. In the last year alone, we’ve reviewed many knives featured on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, including a titanium one. Dragon style hand knife with skeleton body; small blade with Fascinating opening and closing mechanism; A titanium folding surgical knife; another titanium knife that opens with a slider with one hand; And attractive trapezoidal knife yes, made of titanium.

Moving away from all that titanium, we created the tinyBlade, a truly small knife made from M390 steel. M390 is reinforced with a high carbon content and other hardeners including molybdenum, vanadium, tungsten and cobalt – all of which also make it extremely resistant to corrosion and capable of maintaining its sharpness for many years.

TinyBlade, who is currently charging through a successful Kickstarter campaign of your ownContains ultra-sharp steel in a hinged stainless steel housing. When closed, the knife measures only 40 x 18 mm (about 1.6 x 0.7 inches). The cut teardrop shape of the blade itself makes it easy to grip the knife with your finger and open it, as opposed to a simple groove that requires at least one strong and slightly longer fingernail.

When open, the knife remains small (56 x 18 mm (about 2.2 x 0.7 inches)) but feels substantial enough to be used effectively. Notches on the outer edge of the knife provide a slight grip to help you hold the tool while cutting open boxes or cutting rope on your next hike.

Despite its small size, the TinyBlade still has a handle that's comfortable enough to make it functional.

The small hex hole at the top of the knife that allows you to attach it to a keychain also doubles as a wrench – if in everyday life you come across a bolt of just that size that needs to be tightened. Another much more useful feature is the built-in bottle opener on the other end of the knife. But the main attraction here really is the size of the knife: it’s small enough to slip into a hard wallet, that weird little extra pocket on your jeans, or disappear among the keys on your key ring.

Unlike many of the other crowdfunding projects we cover, tinyBlade comes at a relatively reasonable price of £23 (about $30). What’s more, a pack of two will only cost you £35 (about $35). If all goes according to plan, worldwide deliveries of the knives are expected to begin in April 2025.

Since this is a crowdfunding project, the usual precautions apply. That being said, the campaign has now raised over $83,000 – well above its $3,230 goal – so creator Raja Ibrahim, who operates under the company name Man of Gear, is sure to have enough money to begin production.
