Stop blaming the government, do something to improve the country, Ooni tells Nigerians

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, has called on Nigerians to stop constantly blaming the government but rather do something for the good of the country.

Ogunwusi made the call during the official launch of Ojaja City in Akure on Friday.

Ooni, who said his passion for the country made him delve into the project, said his aim was to reduce the country’s housing deficit.

According to him, the official presentation of the project is intended to make it clear to everyone who matters in the country that if there is a will, there is a way.

Ooni said: “A lot of good things can happen in this country and if we believe in ourselves, believe in Nigeria that Nigerians can do it, then our housing deficit will continue to gradually reduce.

“We can’t keep crying about this. We know that we have a housing shortage in our country, but we need to be content with what we have to get results.

“We need to buy from Nigeria, we need to manufacture from Nigeria, including our housing needs.

“And our project is a separate city. It’s over 100,000 square meters and we’re trying to demonstrate what’s possible in Nigeria.

“We don’t have to let the government do everything for us and I believe Nigeria will be better off if we rise up and support the government at all levels.

“We always blame the government, including the media, but what are we individually doing for our dear country?”
