This is why Queen Camilla called off royal engagements

Queen Camilla I recently canceled all my plans royal engagements because of chest infection. This shocked many people, who have since wanted to know more about the Queen’s health and the cancellation.

So here’s everything you need to know about Queen Camilla’s health and the cancellation of her royal engagement.

Updates on Queen Camilla’s health

Queen Camilla is battling a chest infection. Buckingham Palace confirmed this with a statement saying: “Her Majesty the Queen is currently unwell with a respiratory infection for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.” It continued: “It is with great regret that Her Majesty has had to cancel her engagements this week, but she very much hopes to recover in time to attend the memorial events this weekend as normal.” (by using BBC)

However, the Queen apologized to those who may have been affected by her absence. Due to illness, she will not attend the Field of Remembrance ceremony at Westminster Abbey this Thursday. Instead, she will be represented by the Duchess of Gloucester. The Queen will also not attend a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by King Charles III to celebrate the achievements of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

Queen Camilla’s illness occurred shortly after she and her husband King Charles III returned from a royal tour of Australia and Samoa. The tour marked King Charles III’s first visit to Australia as monarch.

This is not the first time the Queen has missed an engagement due to illness. Back in 2023, she tested positive for COVID-19, forcing her to cancel a planned visit to the West Midlands.

Five years earlier, in 2019, a chest infection forced the Queen to cancel a gala dinner at the London Library and an event at Westminster Abbey’s Field of Remembrance the following day. (by using Daily mail)
