South Carolina State Fair donates 0,000 to Hurricane Helen relief efforts

SOUTH CAROLINA (WJBF)South Carolina State Fair donates $200,000 to support recovery efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helen. The donation, approved by the fair’s executive committee, will be divided equally among four organizations actively involved in disaster relief and recovery.

The following organizations will receive $50,000 each to help with their work in the hardest hit areas of South Carolina:

  • Salvation Army of Greenville, Pickens and Oconee Counties

  • Salvation Army of Spartanburg

  • Aiken Salvation Army

  • Samaritan’s Purse

“Hurricane Helen brought unprecedented devastation to many communities across our state,” said Nancy Smith, CEO of the South Carolina State Fair. “Our hearts go out to those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods. As a community-focused organization, we are honored to support the vital recovery work carried out by these organizations and hope these donations will make a significant difference in helping people rebuild their lives.”

The donations will provide critical support to ongoing recovery efforts, ensuring that critical assistance continues to reach those affected by the hurricane. The South Carolina State Fair remains committed to its role as a community partner, supporting our neighbors as they work to rebuild their lives and rebuild their communities.
