At Latest Harris Rally, Oprah Warns Trump’s Presidency Could Take His Vote Away

Shortly before this Vice President Kamala Harris Taking the stage at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Rocky Steps for her final rally before Election Day, billionaire Oprah Winfrey said she fears Donald Trump’s presidency could limit Americans’ voting rights.

Winfrey was introduced by second gentleman Douglas Emhoff around 11:00 pm ET on Monday and brought to the dais along with ten first-time voters voting for Harris, including MLS Philadelphia Union forward Eddie Davis III.

Winfrey recounted a walk on a recent Sunday and an encounter with a woman who said she would “wait this (election) out.”

“So I said, ‘Put it aside.’ We won’t be able to sit it out. “If we don’t come tomorrow, it’s quite possible that we won’t have the opportunity to ever vote.” again.”

“And let me be very clear: If you don’t make sure the people in your life can show up to the polls, that’s a mistake.”

Winfrey added that supporting Harris is a vote to protect the Constitution.

She also quoted former President John F. Kennedy’s “Ask not what you can do for your country” message, adding, “What can you do for every young woman who died because she was ineligible for emergency care?” the medical attention she desperately needed.” because of the abortion ban – and what you can do for yourself and what you can do for everyone and everything you care about is vote.”

Winfrey was followed by musician Will.i.am. The performer, whose real name is William Adams Jr., sang a song in support of Harris with the chorus “Yes, she can.”

In her address, Harris said her campaign showed “who America is” and that “we are all in this together.”

“Philadelphia, are you ready to do this?” she asked, adding that it was the city where “democracy was forged” and nodded to the 1976 Sylvester Stallone classic, saying the rally location was “a tribute to those who start as underdogs and rise to victory.”

Harris called Tuesday “the most important election of our lifetime, and the momentum is on our side.”

Our campaign tapped into the ambitions, aspirations and dreams of the American people. We are optimistic and excited about what we can do together. And we know it’s time for a new generation of leaders in America. And I am ready to offer that leadership as the next President of the United States of America.”

Harris went on to promise that she will be a president who knows that “the true measure of a leader is not who you defeat, but who you lift up.”

PA LEADERS DISCUSS GROUND CAMPAIGN

“I pledge to you that if you give me the opportunity to fight on your behalf as President, nothing in the world will stand in my way… Instead of brooding over a list of enemies, I will spend every day working on my to-do list, complete priorities to improve your life.”

Chants of “we’re not coming back” soon broke out.

She added that she would listen to people who disagree with her and that they would be given “a seat at the table” as is customary with “strong leaders.”

“I promise to put country before party and myself and to be a president for all Americans,” she said. “We are America’s promise.”

Harris also gave credit to Republicans who may or may not have voted for a Democrat in the past but have supported her this cycle. These figures include former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., former Rep. Charlie Dent, R-Pa., former Pence aide Olivia Troy, former Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci, former Melania Trump aide Stephanie Grisham, former Attorney General Bush Sr. Alberto Gonzalez and Reagan-era FBI Director William Webster.

“Tonight we will finish what we started with optimism, energy and joy, knowing that ‘we the people’ have the power to shape our future and that we can face any challenge we face when we do it together,” Harris said. later adding, “When we fight, we win.”

Other speakers at the rally included Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, widely considered second to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz in the vice presidential rankings. Shapiro also noted Philadelphia’s prominent role in the founding of America, adding, “We will not return to the king.”

In an apparent response to a comedian at a Trump rally in Madison Square Garden talking about Puerto Rico being an “island of trash,” two Puerto Rican musicians took the stage Monday night.

Rapper Fat Joe said, “I heard Philadelphia needed a Puerto Rican, and I was so glad to be here,” and criticized Trump’s comments about immigration crisis during his first campaign launch:

“Seeing Donald Trump come down the escalator and call my Mexican brothers and sisters rapists and drug dealers, he obviously didn’t know the contributions of Mexican Americans to this country,” said Bronx native Joe, born Joseph Antonio Cartagena.

Ricky Martin, a San Juan native, later took the stage and performed his 1999 hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca” before also supporting Harris.
