Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry will retire at the end of December

SHEFFIELD, Alabama ((WAFF) – Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry says he will retire at the end of December. according to Times Daily.

Terry has been Sheffield Police Chief for the past six and a half years and has been with the department for nearly 30 years.

“It’s been an amazing journey and a great career. I want to thank the City of Sheffield for this wonderful opportunity,” Terry said in a press release. “This career is what I have wanted to do since I was a child, and serving as chief of police for the past six and a half years has been the culmination of my service.”

Terry was on leave for personal reasons. Captain Chris Tate currently heads the department.

Terry did not give a reason for his upcoming retirement
