TV REVIEW King and Prince William accused of exploiting duchies | Television and Radio | Show business and TV

Well, I sincerely hope that the King and Queen weren’t sitting around on a Saturday night at 8pm expecting to see a shiny new show on Channel 4 called The King, The Prince and Their Secret Millions. Because that wasn’t the case at all. In fact, they might have been a little worried about it.

As we know, Channel 4 prefers to do things differently, particularly with its documentary work on Dispatches. This was an outstanding example.

The main allegation: the king and prince are “royally robbing” (they say) taxpayers of “millions” for the private estates they control, the duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster, to the tune of £50 million.

Including from the “National Health Service and Defense Forces”.

By the way, “Prince” was not in the title. Prince Andrew for a change. He can relax for a moment.

It was Prince WilliamIt was our turn to take the anti-aircraft fire, and it was significant anti-aircraft fire. And this shows that in royal circles a week is not such a long time. Just a few days ago, he was widely praised for his two excellent documentaries on the homeless situation.

Ironically, this was due to his guardianship of the private estate of the Duchy of Cornwall, which he inherited as Prince of Wales on the death of Queen Elizabeth. He is accused of charging the MoD with using Dartmoor for shooting and manoeuvring, rather than leasing the peppercorn.

William also received £1.5 million a year to rent Dartmoor Prison, which is empty! Similar to the deal Fletcher made in the episode “Porridge”.

Neither duchie has refuted any of the figures presented in this top-notch film, and while we know a lot about both duchies, it doesn’t look very good, especially outside of making money from mining activities in Cornwall. Not every computer is green, William.

Does anyone care? I expect Rachel Reeves to do it. She will pick up the phone to HMRC immediately.

This is probably the best news she’ll get this weekend.
