Pamela Anderson explains her decision to leave Hollywood and move to Canada

Pamela Anderson is sharing more details about why she left Hollywood for her home country of Canada.

Actress told Women’s Wear Daily This week, her decision became a way for her to “really look at (her) life and remember who (she) was.”

“Not what other people told me—and I didn’t want anything that happened to me to define me,” she further explained.

“I wanted what I do to define me… all these realizations came to me in the rose garden.”

The 57-year-old “Baywatch” star left Tinseltown for Vancouver Island, British Columbia, several years ago during a period of self-reflection.

In an interview with the best houses and gardens In August, Anderson recalled that she “gave up at some point” and felt she “needed a change” before moving.

“I don’t know what’s happened over the last few decades, but I feel so far away from who I was now,” she explained to the publication.

The Barb Wire star added that she also felt “very sad and lonely” and “misunderstood.”

“I felt like I had really screwed up, that my whole life was a tangle of mistakes,” she said.

At the time, Anderson didn’t say what mistakes she thought she’d made, but she did describe what she thought people thought of her.

“People have this pneumatic image of me, from Playboy to Baywatch to my rock ‘n’ roll type husbands and everything in between,” the former Playmate said.

“But I also played on the image that was created around me. I’m glad I did it all, but I’m really glad I’m where I am now.”

Anderson admitted that she had “got through it all,” concluding, “It’s such a relief now that I can be myself and enjoy this time.”

Anderson was a notorious sex symbol in the ’90s after rocketing to fame with Baywatch and becoming a Playboy staple.

She was shamefully involved in leaked sex video in 1996 with her then-husband, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Leewhich she had previously mentioned weighed heavily on her.

Couple shares two grown sons: Brandon Thomas Lee, 28, and Dylan Jagger Lee, 26.

Anderson moved on try marriage a few more times, but now she’s single. She had no more children.

In her 2023 Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story, the star confirmed that she would rather “be alone” than not be with Lee.

“I thought I could rebuild my family or fall in love with someone else, but that’s not me,” she explained.

Despite all the ups and downs in his life, Anderson told Glamor in September, she’s never felt better, sharing, “I feel more comfortable in my skin now than I probably have in the last 30 years.”
