The Nuggets refused to trade these three players in a failed deal for the 76ers superstar.

The Denver Nuggets are not doing well early in the season, and they may regret not making a deal for the superstar forward they targeted over the summer.

Denver entered Saturday’s season 2-2 after blowing a lead over its archrival Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

Nikola Jokic is great as always, but he also looks like a one-man team as Denver’s other players haven’t been able to make it.

Right now, it seems like Jokic could use another superstar to ease his burden, and in fact, last offseason the Nuggets tried to bring in a superstar in the form of Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George, who was then a member of the Los Angeles Clippers.” .

Adam Wells of Bleacher Report reported on Friday that negotiations to send PG13 to the Nuggets never progressed because Denver was unwilling to part with its trio of young players in exchange for George.

“According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the Denver Nuggets inquired with the Los Angeles Clippers about George before he opted out of his contract and became a free agent,” Wells said.

“Shelburne noted that talks between the Nuggets and Clippers “never escalated” because Denver refused to discuss Christian Braun, Peyton Watson or Julian Strother.”

“It’s unclear exactly what salary the Nuggets would have offered, but Shelburne noted that it would ‘most likely’ be Michael Porter Jr. and Zeke Nnaji if negotiations had gone that far.”

“George ultimately took advantage of his waiver and signed a four-year, $211.6 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent.”

While George isn’t healthy, he’ll get better soon, and it looks like Denver’s offense could really use the nine-time All-Star. As Wells noted, Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray don’t provide enough production to support Jokic.

“After a summer of worrying about how he finished last season and how he looked in the Olympics, Jamal Murray still doesn’t look his best with a 37.9 field goal percentage,” Wells said. “Porter is making 29.6% of his three-point attempts.”

Are Brown, Watson and Strawther good enough young players to pick Paul George over him?

This is definitely an issue Denver will return to if their struggles continue.
