Donald Trump wins Dearborn in 2024 presidential race thanks to Arab and Muslim American voters

DEARBORN, MI. – Donald Trump won Dearborn Arab and Muslim voters turned away from Kamala Harris over the wars in Gaza and Lebanon, the results show.

“We knew we had a historic opportunity to secure our political power for the next generation, and we decided to take advantage of it,” Dearborn resident Amer Zahra said at a news conference Wednesday.

The press conference was attended by a group of Arab and Muslim American voters who spoke out in favor of blocking Harris’ path to victory.

“Today we showed that we were not bluffing by drawing the red line,” Samraa Lukman said.

Trump defeated Dearborn with 42.48% of the vote..

Harris received 36.26 percent of the vote in Dearborn, while third-party candidate Jill Stein received 18.37 percent of the vote.

Biden won Dearborn in 2020 as the Arab-American community historically leans Democratic.

However, throughout the 2024 election season, the community has voiced its disapproval of the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of violence in the Middle East.

Speakers at the press conference said they were not celebrating Trump’s victory; rather, they are proud to have united to reject Harris.

“If there is a 99 percent chance that Donald Trump will continue genocide, that is still better than a 100 percent chance that the Democrats will continue it,” Zahr said.

At a party in Dearborn Tuesday night, voters expressed similar sentiments.

“My vote was a protest vote,” said Hassan Chami, who voted for Stein.
