KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) – Gas is shut off to some Quality Hill Towers apartments as crews repair a leak caused by water department work in the area.

Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department reports that on Thursday morning, November 7, emergency crews became aware of a possible gas leak near the Quality Hill Towers apartment building in the 800 block of Jefferson Street.

When first responders arrived, they discovered that the water department had struck a 2-inch PEX supply line. Spire was called out for repairs and arrived on the scene. Gas is expected to be shut off in the area shortly as repair work begins.

Despite the strong odor of gas outside the apartment building, firefighters said they checked the property with gas meters and found zero readings inside the apartments. As of 11:00, crews remain on the scene.
